We want to empower users to make the best decisions about the information that they share with us. DBA as Blueprint (“Blueprint ”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects from users that are logged in to our platform located at app.blueprint.kids (the “Platform”) with a Student Account, Parent Account or Teacher Account. This Services Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding information we collect through the Platform and any other interactive features or services owned or controlled by Blueprint that link to this Services Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”) as well as any information we collect offline and combine in our databases. Blueprint Services Explained

Blueprint is a web based application that develops research-based learning and emotional wellness products designed for use in classrooms and at home, and provides educational content through a variety of activities for students (“Students”). Blueprint also provides educational materials to be used by schools (“School(s)”) and teachers (“Teacher(s)”). If your child is a Blueprint user, then you, as their parent or guardian (“Parent”) will have access to any information your Student posts on our Platform.

Note on Children

As required by applicable law and our Terms of Service, children under the age of 13 in the U.S. (and a higher age if required by applicable law) may only use our Services with the express prior consent of a parent or legal guardian, unless they are doing so with the consent of a teacher, school, or district who is providing such consent in compliance with COPPA and/or the child is being provided access to our Services by an education institution that has an active contract with Blueprint, wherein the education institution acknowledges that Blueprint is a “school official” under FERPA. If you are a Teacher, School Administrator, or District Administrator you must obtain all necessary parental consents before allowing students to use the Services. If we learn that Personal Information of a child has been collected on our Services without prior parental consent, then we will take appropriate steps to delete this information. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under the age of 13 (or a higher age if required by applicable law) has a registered account with our Services without your consent, please contact your child’s School and contact Blueprint to request that we delete that child’s personal information from our Platform and other systems. Blueprint also allows Students and Teachers to enter in a Student user’s Parent email address. Once this information is provided to Blueprint, Blueprint will notify the Student’s Parent and provide the Parent the chance to consent or opt-out of their child’s use of the Services. For more information on how Blueprint informs Parents, please visit our FAQ here.

Additionally, Teachers will have the option to provide us with the Parent email address for each Student. We will use the Parent email address to notify the child’s Parent about our Terms of Service and this Services Privacy Policy, and to provide Parents with an opportunity to opt-out of their child’s use of the Platform and/or the Services. In order for Teachers to create a Student Account, they will need to provide the Student’s first and last name, school email address, and password. Finally, Teachers or other School Representatives may provide the Student’s first and last name, and school email address directly to Blueprint in order for Blueprint to create the Student Account.

The Blueprint Services include a variety of interactive activities that you will engage in, including responding to quizzes, writing journal entries, and summarizing your takeaways from a specific learning module. Additionally, blueprint uses TAP, a feature that allows you to interact with video Content by clicking your mouse when a concept or idea interests you. Through TAP, you may be able to respond to additional quizzes and writing prompts.

Similar to when you take a quiz or have a writing assignment in school, your responses to quizzes, writing prompts, journal entries, takeaways, TAPs and fun facts will be available to your Parent and your Teacher.  This information will also be retained by Blueprint in order to provide you with the Services. Without it, we may not be able to provide you with all the requested Services.

Information Collected Automatically from Teachers, Parents and Students

To provide a personalized and high-quality experience for our users, we (or our service providers) may use various technologies that automatically record or collect certain information from your browser or your device when you use the Platform and access the Services.  This information is necessary for the adequate performance of the contract between you and us, to enable us to comply with legal obligations and given our legitimate interest in being able to provide and improve the Platform and the Services. For example we may collect the time a Student spends on a specific task, such as the relative time to complete a quiz or journal entry. If you use the Platform on different devices, we may link the information we collect from those different devices to help us provide consistent Services to you across your different devices.  If we combine any automatically-collected information with personal information, we will treat the combined information as personal information, and it will be protected as per this Services Privacy Policy.

Blueprint never utilizes cookies or other similar technologies to track Student, Parent or Teacher Users while logged into the Platform and accessing the Services.

The technologies and information we automatically collect may include:

  • Device Information

We collect device-specific information such as your device type, device brand, operating system, hardware version, device settings, file and software names and types, battery and signal strength, and unique device identifiers. This helps us measure how Platform is performing, and to improve the Services for you on your particular devices

  • Server Log Information

Like most online services, when you use our Platform, we automatically collect and store certain information in our server log files. Examples include things like:

  • Details of how you used our Services, such as your activity on the Platform, and the frequency and duration of your use of the Services.
  • IP Address
  • Device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral URL

This information helps us make decisions about what we should work on next - for example, by showing which features are most (or least) popular.  We may use your IP address and share it with third parties to help diagnose problems with our servers, for security purposes, to manage the Services, to enhance the Platform based on usage pattern data, for analytics and for advertising.

  • Cross-Device Collection

To provide users with a seamless online experience, we may link your identifiers on different browsers and environments you are using to be able to provide a seamless experience across multiple devices and browsers without collecting or processing any additional identifying personal data.  We may also work with third party partners to employ technologies, including the application of statistical modeling tools, which permit us to recognize and contact you across multiple devices.

  • Time on Platform & Time on Task

Blueprint may track the time you spend on the Platform and relevant portions of the Services on the Platform. For example, Blueprint may track the length of time from when you login to the platform to when you log out. Blueprint may also track the amount of time you spend on a specific task, such as how long you spent writing a journal entry or completing a quiz.

  • Journal Entry Rating & Content Flagging

Blueprint may utilize OpenAI to review the content of Students’ journal entries for the purpose of flagging any problematic content and to send a notification to the Student’s Teacher and/or Parent. No Student personal information is provided to OpenAI. OpenAI will review only the journal content and provide a content rating between “1” and “5” (“Content Rating”) based on content of the journal entry, with “5” being the highest level flag for the most problematic content. The Content Rating will also be accompanied by an analysis explaining the reasoning behind the applicable Content Rating (“Analysis”). Content Flags of “3” or higher will automatically be sent to Teachers and/or Parents along with the Analysis. All content flagging, including the Content Rating and Analysis, is performed by artificial intelligence which may be subject to mistake  or error in interpretation. While Blueprint offers this tool to assist Teachers, Teachers should review all journal entries and Content Ratings to insure the accuracy of such Content Ratings, and to determine what steps, if any, should be taken based on the journal entry content.

  • Aggregate Information and Non-Identifying Information

We may use any aggregated anonymous information we receive from Users when accessing the Services on the Platform. For example, we may track which Blueprint Content is viewed the most often, the amount of times a video is accessed, or how often a certain attachment is opened. This information is collected anonymously and allows Blueprint to continue to improve the Platform and the Services by using data to determine future Content, activities, or other improvements. As long as this information no longer identifies an individual user personally, it will not be governed by this Services Privacy Policy.

Your Rights

Your Rights

As you can see, we try to be transparent about what information we collect, so that you can make meaningful choices about how it is used.  You may have certain rights relating to your personal information, subject to local data protection laws. Depending on the applicable laws these rights may include the right to:

  • Access your personal information held by us;
  • Know more about how we processed your personal information;

  • Opt out of certain disclosures of your personal information to third parties;
  • If you’re under the age of 16, opt in to certain disclosures of your personal information to third parties;

If you are a California resident, or other U.S. state resident with its own state privacy legislation, you may have additional rights as set forth under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended and its implementing regulations (“CCPA”). Please see the Section “California Privacy Disclosures” and Other U.S. State Privacy Disclosures” for more information if you are a California resident.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise your rights, please contact us by using the information in the “Contacting Blueprint” section, below. Your personal information may be processed in responding to these rights. We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month unless otherwise required by law, and will contact you if we need additional information from you in order to honor your request or verify your identity. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month, taking into account the complexity and number of requests we receive. If you are an employee of a Blueprint customer, we recommend you contact your employer’s system administrator for assistance in correcting or updating your information.

We may reject requests for access, change or deletion that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort (for example, developing a new system or fundamentally changing an existing practice), risk the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup systems).  In some cases, we won’t be able to guarantee complete access due to legal restrictions - for example, you will not be allowed to access files that contain information about other users or information that is confidential to us. Where we can provide information access and correction, we will do so for free, except where it would require a disproportionate effort.

Information that you have shared with others, others have shared about you, or content other users may have copied and stored, is not part of your account and may not be deleted when you delete your account.   We aim to maintain our Platform and the Services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, even after you update or delete personal information you have provided us from our Platform, your personal information may be retained in our backup files and archives for a reasonable period of time as necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud detection and prevention and enhancing safety.

Please note that the withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing activities based on such consent before its withdrawal. Blueprint  provides Parents, Teachers and other users with the opportunity to withdraw consent or ‘opt-out’ of receiving any future marketing communications from Blueprint  and its partners at any time. Please see the “Communications from Blueprint” section for more information. Additionally, you can always decline to share personal information with us.

The Platform may now or in the future include social media features, such as the Facebook Like button or the X (formally Twitter) post button, or incorporate certain other functions that allow you to interact with the Platform through your Account on certain supported third-party social network or network storage sites (collectively "Social Media Features"). These Social Media Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our Platform, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. You may be given the option by such Social Media Features to post information about your activities on our Platform to a profile page of yours that is provided by a third-party social media network in order to share with others within your network. Social Media Features are either hosted by a third-party or hosted directly on our Platform. Your interactions with these Social Media Features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing each Social Media Feature. The Platform and the Services may contain links to websites, applications and services, including social media services, provided by third parties, as well as embedded images or other third-party content and features.  Your use of these features may result in the collection, processing and sharing of information about you, depending on the features.  Any information you choose to provide to or that is collected by these third parties is subject to that third party’s policies governing privacy and security and is not covered by our Services Privacy Policy.  These other websites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you. The fact that we link to a website or other third-party content is not an endorsement, authorization or representation that we are affiliated with that third party, nor is it an endorsement of their privacy or information security policies or practices. We are not responsible for the content, features, privacy and security practices and policies of any third-parties. We encourage you to learn about third parties’ privacy and security policies before providing them with personal information..

Online Surveys and Feedback

We like feedback, which means we may conduct online surveys to solicit your opinions and comments. Participation in these surveys is of course optional. If you choose to participate, the information you provide will be aggregated with information from other users to make improvements to the user experience and develop appealing content, features, and promotions. Unless otherwise noted in a survey, your participation will remain anonymous.

You can also ask us questions and share comments or suggestions with us. Your questions, comments, and suggestions may not be kept confidential. We may use your questions, comments, and suggestions to improve the Platform and our Services, but we will have no obligation to compensate you for any such contributions.

California Privacy Disclosures

Your Rights and Choices

If you are a California resident you have the right to request that Blueprint disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past twelve (12) months.  Please see this chart for the detailed categories of personal information we collect from each user type, including the sources from which the information was collected, the business purpose for which the information was collected and the third parties with whom we share or disclose personal information for a business purpose.

California consumers also have specific rights of access, deletion and data portability regarding their personal information under the CCPA. If you are a California resident you have the right to request that Blueprint provide the specific pieces of information that we have collected about you. You also have the right to request deletion of your personal information collected or maintained by Blueprint.  We provide these same rights to all users.  Please see the “Your Rights” Section for more detail on how to exercise these rights, including how we will verify requests. If you are a California resident, you may also designate a natural person or business entity registered with the California Secretary of State to act on your behalf to exercise these rights.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights under CCPA.  Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

  • Deny you goods or services.
  • Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.
  • Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

However, we may offer you certain financial incentives permitted by the CCPA that can result in different prices, rates, or quality levels.  Any CCPA-permitted financial incentive we offer will be reasonably related to your personal information’s value and contain written terms that describe the program’s material aspects.  Participation in a financial incentive program requires your prior opt-in consent, which you may revoke at any time.

Do Not Sell

As stated throughout this Services Privacy Policy, Blueprint does not sell or rent personal information of any Platform User (whether Parent, Teacher or Student) to any third-party for any purpose - including for advertising or marketing purposes. Furthermore, we do not share or disclose personal information with any third-parties except in the limited circumstances described in this Services Privacy Policy and as set forth here.  However, Blueprint may, for website visitors only (i.e. NOT logged in Blueprint users), use some personal information for retargeting or other Blueprint  specific marketing purposes. If we do so and such activity is determined to be a sale under the CCPA, you will be given an opportunity to opt-out, as set forth on our “Do Not Sell” page. Please see our Online Analytics, Advertising and Do-Not-Track section for more detail.

Do Not Track

Do Not Track ("DNT") is a privacy preference that users can set in certain web browsers to inform websites and services that they do not want certain information about their webpage visits collected over time and across websites or online services. However, we do not recognize or respond to browser-initiated DNT signals, as the Internet industry is still working to determine what DNT means, how to comply with DNT, and how to create a common approach to responding to DNT.  For more information on “do not track”, please visit www.allaboutdnt.org

Third-parties that have content embedded on the Platform, such as a social feature, or an embedded video player, may set cookies on a user’s browser and/or obtain information about the fact that a web browser visited the Services from a certain IP address. Third-parties cannot collect any other personally identifiable information from the Services unless you provide it to them directly.

Notice for Minors (users under 18)

If you are under the age of 18, or the parent of a child using the Platform under the age of 18 residing in California, you are entitled to request removal of content or information you (the minor) have publicly posted on our Platform. Currently, we do not allow minors to post content to share publicly on the Platform, but we do still allow minors (or the minor’s parents if under 13) the option to delete personal information associated with their user accounts if one was created in error in connection with the Platform.  If you are a minor, or the parent of a minor under 13, and would like to delete personal information associated with your account or content you uploaded through your account, please follow the directions set forth in the “Your Rights” section. Although we offer deletion capabilities on our Platform, you should be aware that the removal of content may not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of that content or information posted through the Platform, as there may be de-identified or recoverable elements of your content or information on our servers in some form. Additionally, we will not remove content or information that we may be required to retain at the direction of the school pursuant to FERPA or under applicable laws.

“Shine the Light” Law

Pursuant to California Civil Code Section 1798.83(c)(2), Blueprint does not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes unless you affirmatively agree to such disclosure. If we do share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes and you authorize us to include your information, we will only share that information in connection with that specific promotion. To prevent disclosure of your personal information for use in direct marketing by a third party, do not opt-in to such use when you provide personal information on our Sites. If you later decide that you do not want that third party to use your personal information, you will need to contact the third party directly.

California customers can receive more information about our compliance with this law or to make a request under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 by sending us an email at  privacy@blueprint.kids or by writing to us as set forth in “Contacting Blueprint ” Section below.

Other U.S. State Privacy Disclosures

Several states, including California as outlined above, Virginia, Colorado and Utah require specific disclosures that we have provided in this Services Privacy Policy. We will happily comply with any requests required under applicable law, and we will continue to update our policies, practices and procedures (as outlined below) as the laws of the states where we operate change.

Changes and Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may revise our Services Privacy Policy from time to time as our business practices and legal requirements evolve.  You can see when the last update was by looking at the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.  We won’t reduce your rights under this Services Privacy Policy without your explicit consent.  If we make any material changes, we’ll provide prominent notice by posting a notice on the Platform and/or notifying you by email (using the email address you provided), so you can review and make sure you know about them. We encourage you to review this Services Privacy Policy from time to time, to stay informed about our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information through the Platform and the Services.  By continuing to use the Platform and our Services after the revised Services Privacy Policy has become effective, you acknowledge that you accept and agree to the current version of the Services Privacy Policy.
